From 2003, when the leading tourism portal in Russia www.travel.ru established nominations in different tourism categories „Star Travel.ru” (Zvezda Travel.ru), that are awarded according to the questionnaires submitted by readers, the nomination “Best Baltic sea region resort” was avowed to Jūrmala. This tradition continues, and also this year the award „Best Baltic sea resort 2011” will go to Jūrmala resort city.
On march 2012 Jūrmala city council will participate in international tourism exhibition „MITT 2012” in Moscow, where representatives of Jūrmala city council will receive a prestigious prize as a Best Baltic sea resort. The price was awarded to Jūrmala after a very tough competition among other resorts from Germany, Scandinavia, Russia and the Baltic countries in Baltic Sea region. Jūrmala gets the title “Best Baltic Sea resort” for the 9th year in a row.
For Jūrmala obtaining the prize as a best Baltic Sea region, is a sign that Jūrmala city council’s and tourism entrepreneurs’ teamwork is aimed at the right direction and travelers from Russia approve our effort to continuous service quality improvement and new offer development.
Tourism portal Travel.ru is visited by approximately 10 000 travelers in 24h, 70% of them are Russian inhabitants.
