From 19th to 21st of January 2012 World winter swimming championship 2011 will take place in Jūrmala, and it will be organised by International winter swimming association in cooperation with Latvia’s winter swimming club „Jelgavas roņi”.
World Winter Swimming Championshipsare organizedevery two years, and in 2012 organization of it is entrusted toLatvia.
Already 358 participants from 20 different countries have signed up for the competition:Finland, Latvia, Russia, Great Britain, Germany, Ukraine, Estonia, Norway, Poland,Canada, Switzerland, Australia,Nigeria, Slovakia, Ireland, Czech Republic,Austria, Italy, etc. The swimmingdistance will be 250 m.
The championshipwill be heldin Jūrmala, Lielupe, by the sportscentre"Concept".
