We are going to coming of spring in these days of March. On the 21th of March the astronomical spring will begin, when day and night will be the same length. Spring solstice is also the Latvian Great day, when we are ready for swinging, "healing the birds”, coloring the eggs.

Great Day is celebrated in Latvian counties. In Turaida Spring solstice will be on the 19th of March. We will be able to expect spring with songs, games and swinging! We will be joined by children's folk group from Sigulda “Senlejina”. Sun path will lead to the spring solstice symbol - Easter egg. Eggs are the symbol of a new life and of sun. Here we will be able to find a cup of spring water. This water ir wery good for beauty and health.

On the 19th of March (12.00) gong will sound in several high places in Latvia: in Salacgriva, Talsi, Ventspils, Ogre, Riga and Cesis. Gong will say – spring is coming! To expect a spring!

On the 21th of March (06.15) spring will be greeted in Pavilosta. At the sea will be fire traditions, songs, swinging, "healing the birds” and celebration breakfast.

On the 27th of March Great day will be celebrated at the Latvian Ethnographic open – air museum: hanging a swing, singing, decoration a house. We are happy and joyful – spring is coming!
